I ordered an AAC 762-SD from SilencerShop on 12/22/2014 on an NFA Trust. Got a call from local shop yesterday (07/03/2015) that they have the tax stamp and it's ready to be picked up. So from order to ready was just a few days past 6 months. The SilencerShop made it very easy but there is added delay in their process because there is an extra stop of their applying for and waiting for the Form 3 to be approved so they can transfer to the local (i.e. Indiana) shop. It seems they can't submit the Form 4 until after that happens.

It's certainly clear the ATF will not be rushed. They sit on these for as long as possible I'm sure. But there may have been an end-of-year rush with folks spending Christmas and other bonus money. I had hesitated buying a suppressor for a long time because I didn't want to wait. I know that seems silly but I guess that's part of why the ATF does that, the more people they can discourage from "waiting" for an NFA item the better they see their job performance.

10. Notes: I fully expected this to get my stamp back around December, and when I saw the envelope from the ATF I assumed they returened my F-1 because I messed up somewhere. When I opened it up I couldnt believe there was a stamp at the top of the form... Just to be clear; I did NOT submit this with a trust or corporation. This was submitted as an individual, and somehow it came back within 2 months.
