    No, there isn't one, but if there were it would have been yesterday. It was the 234th anniversary of Hale's death at the hands of the British Regulars. One of the most interesting things of note is that he didn't die for "his country", as reported many years after his death, but for "the cause". There was no country or government for him to die for, but there was the cause of liberty. It's an interesting and inspiring story.

    Oh, I'd say there was a country, she was just married to the cause.

    Though long since divorced due to her frequent wanderings, he still hopes for reconciliation.

    A great story of a true patriot all the same. Interestingly, I was recently reading about the early battles of the war, from Lexington/Concord through Trenton (chronologically). I can't believe I didn't note that this anniversary was just 'round the bend.

    Thanks for sharing with all, and reminding us from whence we came.
