Watching The Duel Race II now.

It is a bit sentimental watching this race. A few years ago, while I was watching the race, my wife was taking a pregnancy test in the bathroom, I had zero idea. She came out into the living room and told me "I think you are going to be a dad". Just six months later my princess arrived.

After looking at the weather forecast my guess is racing on Monday. Stinks for all the people who are unable to extend their vacation time.

What form of racing/motorsports is the same as it was 25 years ago?

    None…..

    Great point.
    Virtually none.
Perhaps that explains why I don't pay much attention to racing/motorsports these days.

I still catch the Isle of Man TT races from time to time.

    Enjoy the season.

Sprint car and silver crown racing is still pretty pure. The cars have gotten a bit uglier (but much safer), but they’re still simple machines with straight axles at both ends and torsion bar or coilover suspension. Most importantly, though, they still leave it almost entirely in the driver’s hands.

They’ve been running mechanical fuel injection on sprint cars since the 1960’s (at least in USAC they have been).

Here is a good read about sprint cars old and new.

Remember the USAC Silver Crown ethanol controversy a few years ago?
