A really close friend just proposed to his lady, he is 24 and so stoked.

He is a gun guy. The wedding probably wont be for a year or so but id like to so something special for the man.

Im thinking a hard chromed 1911. Either govt size or a long slide. Ive had a few other ideas but id like to hear from you guys.

    Super happy for him.

    any cool wedding gift ideas?

My groomsmen went in on a Ruger 10/22 takedown for my wedding. Probably not as expensive as a 1911, depending on the brand... but I was very surprised and happy with it.

I think a gun is an awesome gift if all the groomsmen are willing to chip in.

As to wedding gifts, make sure the Bride will be happy. Don't know the young lady and no negatives intended, but I seen a few go side ways. Are they planning on doing a gift registry?

Maybe stainless but with a high polish. I just want it to be like a mirror.
he carries an xds because his glock 19 was "to heavy" so it wont get carried.
what im saying is the finish doesnt need to be highly durable, i guess.

remington seems to offer a nice nickel 1911
Not knocking the idea, I just am not up to date on chrome gun offerings. I was thinking of some steel polished and unpolished ones I've seen that look nice.
That's a nice gesture and I'm sure your friend is going to appreciate it and that gun will mean a lot to him for a lifetime.

Be careful asking people to chip in until the groomsmen are all chosen and approved by the bride. In my wedding, I could have had 3 or 4 logical choices; she could have had 3 or 5. That meant we went with 3, and my fourth guy got left out. It wasn't a cause for hard feelings anywhere, but it perhaps could have been had he assumed he was in.
