My question would be, what shtf?
Take a house fire. What do you most need?
That is very different to what you need when the power is out.
Entirely different than what you need if the US dollar has collapsed.
Way different if than what you need to get home on foot during a riot if civil order has collapsed in your area.
Entirely different than what you need to survive the zombie apocalypse.

You can not think of SHTF in terms of items that will save you. It all but guarantees you will fail. Build skills that are useful. Stay calm and make a plan during any emergency. Adapt and set goals both short term and longer term. Think. Move(take that first step). Act(do what you need to hit the next goal). Do so in a thoughtful way though, with an idea what you need to do and what goals you have. Stay calm.

Items can be handy to have. A first aid kit in your car might save your life or someone's loved one. An emergency pack in your car could get you home in some events, or allow you to help someone else. Things you keep and have easy access to at home can make a difference in some SHTF situations and keep them from even being SHTF.

All the items in the world are useless if you do not know how to actually use them, do not have or make a plan, or have no idea what your goal is.
