Awesome. Let's hope they grant the Mexican drivers diplomatic immunity so they don't have to follow the laws put into place to help ensure the safety of everyone on the highways. That way the Mexicans can undercut American drivers, take all the money back to Mexico and fall asleep at the wheel after driving for 22 hours straight and kill someone without facing any consequences. What's not to like?

On the bright side, the cost of recreational narcotics should come down.

I love all the comments, very funny. It's crazy how the government can come up with some of the dumbest things to do. Brillant besides all the ones we let come over, pay for them to live here, not charge any taxes and pay their schooling, college, truck diving school or what have you, now lets just let them all come over, hell just give them everything and not have to pay a dime the the people the built this great country.

This is such a colossally bad idea. :noway::noway::noway::noway:

A '53 foot trailer can haul a lot of explosives or hide a suitcase nuke very easily.

A border agent is not going to inspect a 25 ton load of coffee, refrigerated/frozen food or produce, all time sensitive items. Coffee especially can mask odors from trained dogs. Drug or human contraband/traffic will be the least of our concerns.

No one ever listens until after the fact, which I hope will never come.

Maybe Canada has an opening but then again I've already had enough Socialism jammed down my throat in the last few years.

As a truck driver this pisses me off. There are to many drivers that cant get hired and yet were going to let them haul in here. We have been doing the same program with Canada for unkown amout of years. They can deliver here then pick up somewhere but the what they pick up has to be going back out of the country. Problem Ive talked to Canadian drivers that run down here for a few weeks then go back across the border to go home. Then they bring a load back and do it all over again.

Have any of you seen the news documentaries that definitely show selective inspection of trucks at the Mexican border crossings coming into the US? Some Mexican trucking companies must cross someone's hand with enough pesos to make them look the other way. There have also been stories of bundles of drugs being transported in the truck tires. The weight of the drugs was not properly distributed and the wheels were jumping all over the place when the truck was moving at highway speeds. I got this little story from a person who works at the facility and was present when it happened, so take this for what it was worth as I was not there to personally witness the event. Just a few months ago east of Lafayette, Indiana a lost and confused driver of Hispanic origins who could not speak, but a little English tried to do a u-turn on a two lane state highway in front of the nursing home in which my friend is employed. The driver did not have a driver's license from what I was told and was lacking some other required documents. He was tearing up their front yard trying to make the u-turn. He was quickly stopped by the local law enforcement people. Apparently, someone higher up was called and came to the site. There was some discussion. The guy gave what little cash he had to the nursing home people to compensate them for the property damage he had caused (an amount far short of the actual damages). He was then allowed to complete his illegal turn and drive off back to the west.

You know that similar incidents have to be occurring all over our country each and every day. Surely, the only illegal truck driver in this country was not the one encountered on that day. Who knows what he might have been transporting and to who and for what purposes? This whole story concerns me in so many ways. Oh well, we just have to hope that O'Bummer has the best interests of all of us at heart.

I hope Obama's union buddies will keep in mind how quick he cut the Teamsters necks when it was advantageous for him.
