I had never heard of the Code Talkers until I was out-processing from the Navy on Treasure Island, California in the early 90's. There was a small, unassuming museum located in an old air traffic control building that was originally used for controlling the landing and takeoff maneuvers of seaplanes there during WWII. A decent sized exhibit informed me of who the men were, what they had done and what an amazing feat they had accomplished. Having never heard of these men, I was of the thought that this was a small, but important, operation, but later read more that led me to believe it was somewhat larger than the exhibit portrayed it. Then, the movie with Nick Cage.

RIP, mate. You did a heroic thing and helped keep us safe. Fair winds and following seas.
