There's always a problem when you try to steal away one of those a man loves more than life and he still has a weapon...

NO but, I remember seeing a "mother" and her very young child at a VP one day at lunchtime. You know the type, carry's the cigarette case and lighter in their hand all the time, tattoo's all over. She was buying her smokes (IMPORTANT), and bought the kid a twinke, and a Mt. Dew for it's lunch. The child had a HUGE load in it's diaper at the time. By god smokes are MUCH more important than a childs nutrition!

IMO, NOT a fit parent, and I felt sorry for the kid as it's future has to be very bleak.

Socialism at its best. Why not have a Hitler er that is an Obama Youth to properly raise the kids? It would be "for the children". The socialists could then raise the debt ceiling to 100 trillion to pay for it.

What I don't understand is why the state doesn't just take all children at birth. Parents are just so fickle & so many don't know how to raise their children. Many homes are dangerous environments for kids. Just imagine how much better the world could be if children were raised in a tolerant, homogeneous method...sorta like the clones in Star Wars. You could give them all the same things, place them into the jobs they're truly best-suited for, give to each according to his needs, etc. Sounds like paradise, right?

I agree with a lot of what has been said, but I have to take issue with one thing. When babies are babies, they are at their parents' mercy for food. But even though he is overweight and probably will always be, that doesn't mean his future is bleak.

I am overweight and always have been. My mom let me eat whatever I wanted but I don't blame her for me being overweight. I have been able to think for myself for quite a few years now and I blame my overweight body on myself.

I also consider my future to be very bright even though I may be carrying around some extra "love". Weight isn't everything.

In no way should anyone take a child away from there parent. It costs me way to much in tax dollars to keep them in government care.

I wasn't refering to weight at all. Hell, I'm alittle over weight. I was refering to the fact the child was eating a Twinke and washing it down with a Mt. Dew for their lunch. "Here honey, have some sugar, and wash it down with sugar, Momma's busy buying cigarettes". I can only imagine what the kid's teeth look like now.:n00b:

The bleakiness I mentioned had to do with the atmosphere in which it was being raised.

I would posit the following for consideration:

It is commonly accepted that feeding a child too little is clearly abusive.

Feeding a child too much can have many similar long-term effects on the child's development.

For instance, an underfed child of, say, 5 years' age will likely have joint problems due to low protein levels. An overfed child of 5 years' age will have joint problems from excess weight. A UFC will likely have a poor heart due to lack of proper nourishment. An OFC will likely have heart problems due to improper nourishment, particularly high-fat diet.

Maybe you should put the trauma of being ripped away from your parents into your calculation. How does that affect a child's future?

The government shouldn't be our Nanny, telling us to "Eat your peas" and predicting the future of our health and well-being. Absolutely not.
