It is worth noting that the articles refer to the hundreds of volunteers showing up with their own boats to help evacuate people trapped by the flood water and to feed the evacuees and rescuers. One article refers to them as the "Cajun Navy".

The flooding is not in New Orleans, it's in the areas around Baton Rouge and other parishes. Friends in New Orleans have said all they got was heavy rain, but no flooding.

Quite a bit of distance between the two. It is in the area that is between the Amite river and the Tickfaw river east of Baton Rouge. I have some family in that area, they were able to go back to their homes today and begin the process of trying to put their lives back together.

The real tragedy is that flood insurance is so expensive there and because of that there are a lot of uninsured people.

If anyone would like to donate to a worthy cause related to the flooding you can donate to Operation BBQ Relief. They are providing meals to first responders, rescuers and victims in the affected areas. This is about as direct relief as you can get.

"We arrived on location in Hammond, LA and our volunteers are already set to serve 4,000-5,000 meals tomorrow to those affected by the floods. We'll also be opening another location in the Baton Rouge area which is set to start serving sometime tomorrow afternoon. We anticipate the need will increase to 10,000-15,000 meals per day at least.
Our primary need right now is donations, so we can be sure to keep up with the demand. Text “DONATEOBR” to 41444. Just $20 feeds 20 people!"

In that case, Kanye says that Barack Obama hates white people....and he's OK with that.

Does anyone really think he is NOT the reason for all racial instability in this country? I would never even think to consider race when helping someone out of danger. If someone is in trouble, HELP THEM! What a Dbag. I'm so thankful he is almost gone. -Jason
