M16 pencil barrels worth

I was wondering what new original m16 pencil barrels may be worth, have barrel nut and front sight, no flash hider

If new they range from $150-200 to over $1000. Depending on twist rate (1 in 14 being tops) to barrel markings.

You made a wise investment. Just saw an Air Force 604 upper (no BCG or charging handle) sold for north of $500.


604 is a slick side upper with raised arrow at the windage wheel. They can be "early or late". Check out the "retro" marked items at Ar15.com. The retro dudes have a sickness.

Only markings are C MP B on one and C MP C on the other, guess I'll have to use a cleaning rod and patch to check the twist rate

A few years ago I bought an A2 upper with a pencil barrel for $250 minus the BCG.
I wouldn't say noone wants them, alot of people are doing the retro thing. I prefer an A2 upper.
I think my next one will be an A2 upper with a 16" barrel

I have two retros, a 603 and a xm177. My favorite ARs. They will never leave.

We'll color me surprised seriously! I had no idea there was such a demand for these throwbacks. I just knew $175 was cheap and it's a good gun for a rainy day.

A quick check with a cleaning rod they appear to be 1-12 twist
