I am pretty sure there is a previous thread on this, but evidently a Michigan lawmaker "wooing" Jack Daniels to move to Michigan if this tax gets on the ballot and is passed. What really P****D me of was this:

The citizen pushing for the tax, Charles Rogers, has likened the $10 fee to the "usage" fees film companies pay for filming in a particular location. According to Rogers, the company has built its image around the town of Lynchburg and should give more back to the community.
"We are entitled to more money from the only industry in the county," he told Fox News in an earlier interview, arguing that the money could go toward new schools, roads and bridges.
County officials may be leery of the consequences of such a tax, though.
Do you think this guy also believes in wealth redistribution? What happens when "the only industry in the county" moves? If this tax proposition gets on the ballot and passes, I hope JD moves out of the area. f-em! Rant Off

Heck, I have eighty acres I would gladly allow a distillery on. Could you imagine, Jack Daniel, made in (cough) beautiful Gosport Indiana???

Even if they transport the water would they be able to call it Tennessee Whiskey?
They seem to be pretty proud of that statement.

    Not really...

    This is more correct...

Tennessee Whiskey is the Process and Type of Whiskey, not where it is currently made...;)
^This^ I don't think they'd wanna call it Michigan Whiskey.

By the way I think there is 2 Companies that make Tennessee Whiskey....
I can't recall the name of the 2nd one right now though...

I was suprised when I found four types:
Jack Daniel's, George Dickel, Collier and McKeel, and Benjamin Prichard's

I wonder if the other three are threatened with a tax, or are they just "small frys?"

    Thanks for the assist!

It has been a long time since I have sampled GD...
Might have to look for it Saturday when I go to town...
I like their slogan: "If you only know Jack then you don't know Dickel" :):

    Welll.....

Since Jack is the only one located in Lynchburg I would say it is a local Government thing...
GD is in Cascade Hollow Tennessee...
Collier and McKeel are from outside of Nashville...
    Benjamin Prichard's is from Kelso...

By the way I have not had anything from the last on the list...
Time for a trip to the Store... ;)
