Well things changed, I went to Bradis to look at the .44, and the guy shows me a Ruger 77/44 that he just took on trade a couple hours earlier. Bore was clean, and already had a Nikon Prostaff
4-12x40. Needless to say I snatched it up. Serial number falls into the 2012-2013 timeframe. I'm pretty pumped. I love how it feels like a beefed up 10/22.

I've had my eye on the Ruger 77/357 for the same reasons. I like the idea of having a rifle and pistol that shoot the same cartridge, and I like the added versatility of being able to shoot .38 or .357 with them.

Nice bwframe. I'll have mine out of layaway in a couple weeks and will post pics then. I can't wait to get it out and shoot it.

I didn't realize they had any aftermarket for these. I've built a couple different 10/22's, but never paid much attention to Ruger bolt guns. This could get out of hand quick if that's the case!

I havn't looked into it a lot further, other than the front Williams Firesight. I bought extra mags and the rear peep from Ruger.

Do you happen to know the last year they made this rifle in wood stock? Mine has one, the serial says it was made between 2012/13 but I can't find any solid info on the changeover.

I wanted a 77/44, due to my 77/22 being a (literal) tack driver. However, they were more than I wanted to spend on a kid's deer gun (I've already got my .458 SOCOM). I ended up getting a CVA Hunter break action in .44mag, for like $200 shipped from Bud's, including a 1-piece scope mount. It's reasonably accurate, and the trigger is AWESOME!

If you are looking for a good .44 Mag lever gun. Beech Grove Firearms has a used JM marked 1894 lever gun in .44 Mag. Priced right at $500.00. That is $130 less than new retail. I would jump on it but I have a Ruger 44 Carbine that I like alot

44 is a great choice. Bigger is better in this case. Now you need to pick up a Red Hawk so your rifle has a handgun companion.

I ended up with both for the same reason...We go to our property on the weekend and during not deer season I take the Ruger m77/357 along with three .357 revolvers and during deer season I take the m77/44 version with at least one .44 Smith revolver....

You know....In case the Zombie Apocalypse happens while we are there.......
