Thursday (Dec 2, 2021) was in the 50s & wind was supposed to be 9 mph (NOT).
The fliers were discouraging at only 50 yds with the RPR.
I honestly thought about going back to 50 yds & staying there with the two CZs, haha!
Used CCI SV for everything today.

At only 50 yds & using 1.75" circles the RPR should have been no fliers, since I usually use 1" circles at 50 yds.
I'll blame it on the wind, haha!
    Range 12.02.2021 RPR 50 yds.jpg

100 yds for the CZ 512 semi & 455 bolt.
Puzzling to me, the 512 semi isn't doing better than the 455 like it did at 50 yds.

I recently received a Marlin XT-22 through my father-in-law’s estate. He owned probably 75 rifles, shotguns, and handguns (including two WWII era Colt 1911s) when he passed, and sure they’re with my brother-in-law. Didn’t know anything about this XT other than they retailed for about $300. Pleasantly surprised how accurate it is, and most importantly can see my father-in-laws print on it. Nikon scope, leather sling, and set up just like he liked his rifles. It’s a keeper even with cheesy laminated stock.

An older friend wanted me to sell a SW SR-22 rifle (AR style) for him.
Before I could even list it another friend wanted to buy it.
As one friend was leaving my driveway to pick up a couple of guns of his I'd taken to the range, my other friend selling the SW SR-22 rifle pulled up, haha!

Friend who bought put a red dot on it & I got to take it to the range today.
Always love to try out & dial in someone else's gun.

I used Remington Golden Bullets HP HV 36 grain.
Didn't want to use my "good" stuff, & the GBs always are "OK."
I was dialing in the red dot, but had difficulty seeing my drawn red circles.
I could see enough to at least adjust the red dot POI to the right & lower.
Couldn't see the 2 red dots at all where I didn't put any rounds.
The torso red dot I couldn't see & basically "guessed."
Fortunately the red dot was OK by then.

So after 2 years and almost 7 months have you found a rifle that works for you @doddg ?

Have you decided on the one that you like best?
2 summers ago I narrowed down my 22 rifle selection when I went through my frenzy of buying a dozen or so .22 rifles & settled on these 3.
I like all 3 that I'm left with "the best," haha!

I want to keep the CZ 512 since it is the best semi-auto I have.
Same with the CZ 452 as a bolt action.
I don't need another bolt, but the RPR I enjoy so much, so I give myself license to own 2 bolts, haha!

If I ever came across the Tikki or the Bergara which are suppose to be more accurate, I'd sell whatever & get one.
That is the extent of my dreams, haha!
But, I never really see them for sale used and/or when I do they are prices nearly retail.

For my minimalistic needs for a 22 rifle, I tell myself to just enjoy what I have.
I didn't shoot the but 3-4 times last year with the rifles b/c of the 70 shutdown & traffic conditions to get to MCFG.

I didn't know the Ruger Precision Rimfire was that good to be in the top three. I might give one a try. I'm definitely sold on the CZ 452 now with all the great reviews.

It did come with a Green Mountain Barrel (I think that was the name).
I already had an RPR, but I had a chance to buy this one from a friend & I wanted to see if an upgraded barrel made a difference.
It did, but only a little with my hands & eyes.

Here is a couple of pics I found comparing the old one I had & this one I got now.
Barely a difference & maybe not.
I thought so since I had to pay more for the upgraded one, haha!
This would have been only 25 yds since I didn't have MCFG available at the time.
I thought I was a pretty good shot until I got the outdoor range at MCFG & tried 100 yds: humbling!

I planned to take the bolts to MCFG today:
    - CZ 452
    - RPR
    &
I was going to take the Weihrauch HW35 piston spring air rifle for some 25 yd work outdoors for the 1st time.
I mistakenly brought the CZ 512 like I did last Friday, instead of the HW35.
A mistake without any repercussions, haha!

I was there from 9:30 am till 2:00 pm: quite a workout for me.
I was meeting Doug from INGO, who was buying my Henry Pump .22LR that I bought off Rala 2 yrs. ago.
The Henry came with only a gun sock, so I paid it forward & included a green hardcase that I picked up free on INGO some time ago.
Plus, there was a Redfield older scope that came with it with strange looking older rings that fit directly on the dovetail running along the top of the receiver.
I had bought a rail to put over the dovetail so as to easily add an optic & bring up the height for my eye line.
I included an inexpensive Barska scope that would easily attach.

    Practice rounds:
    CZ 452: middle & right 20% on -1/2" inner green circle & 100% outer beige circle (1.25+")
    RPR: left 40% on -1/2" inner green circle & 100% with 1.25+"
    Note: tighter groups with 452
    50 yds with CCI SV
    Range 6.14.2022 2 circles on right CZ 452 & middle is RPR.jpg

    CZ 512 semi
less than 1/2 inch inner green circle (52%)
larger than 1.25" Beige circle (100%)
    Range 6.14.2020 50 yds. Practice.jpg

    This target is too busy.
Started trying to do the % Both the inner dark blue circle is 7/16" (or -1//2")
    &
Outside dark blue circle is 7/8" or (-1").

    When adding up both rows:
    - CZ 452 = 22/50 pts. inner circle (44%)
    - RPR = 19/50 pts. inner circle (38%)
    - CZ 512 = 7/25 pts. inner circle (28%)

    - CZ 452 = 41/50 pts. outer blue circle (82%)
    - CZ 512 = 20/25 pts. outer blue circle (80%)
    - RPR = 39/50 pts outer blue circle (78%)
Very pleased with how the 512 did at the bottom shooting at the 7/16" circles (-1/2")
8/10 rounds touching or inside circles.

    Fun Fun Fun today. :rockwoot:
    .22LR rifles x3 at 50 yds.
    Spent 4 hours at MCFG.
I don't go that much since the traffic flow on 465 is insane sometimes.

I've had a problem with my RPR optic.
The crosshairs move around as I move my eyes using on one of my Hawke scopes.
Also, the parallax has to be adjusted to infinity for a decent focus???
A very helpful shooter at the range told me I had the scope back too far on my rifle & it would ameliorate that issue to move it forward on the rail.
I moved it up about 4 inches & the issue went away!
I was so excited I can't remember whether I adjusted the parallax or not.

Even though the crosshairs moving wasn't an issue, I did the same with my CZ 512, moving it forward on the rail, hoping to tighten up groups.
    )Warning: not know proper terminology.)
I tried to that with the CZ 455, but due to the type of riser I had on the rail with only 1 male protruding male "slot" underneath, to fit between the slots on the Picatinny rail.
The riser would only fit in one position on the rail.
I'll have to put another riser on it to change it, but it's my most accurate rifle the way it is.
But, it might tighten up groups a tad more.

I had to dial in all the scopes today after repositioning them, or as in the case of the CZ 452, attempting to do so.
I was still tweaking elevation & windage on these 1.75" circles.

This is one of those days I should have just stayed home. :lmfao:
When I got to the outdoor range & realized that I didn't take my "sled" with me, I had to improvise with my small bean bags & a couple of wood pieces the range provides.
It all went downhill from there. :wallbash:
Since I'm not shooting rifles much anymore, I've sold off many of the rifles I had.
I did think for the 1st time today that it's also now time to let the Ruger Precision Rifle go since I don't need two bolt actions.

Two wood range pieces provided by MCFG to assist as a rest since
    I forgot my sled.
7.29.2022 two range pieces of wood for a rifle rest.jpg

My 3 small range bags for different elevation heights for the stock.
    7.19.2022 my 3 range bags.jpg

After using the 1.75" circles Saturday, I thought I'd try out these 1/2" circles.
It didn't work out for me & I should have used my 1" circles out that is my standard for 50'.
But, using the bags that moved around for stock support didn't spell consistency.
    7.19.2022 .5 in cirlces x3 rifles.jpg

TJ sent me this target to assist dialing in scopes.
RPR stared out good with 4 of 5 rds inside the 1" square box.
The CZ 512 was left & high.
The top middle w/o a square was also the 512, also a bit high & a tad right.
The 512 in the middle was still high, but I didn't know how much was due
to the different rest I was having to use.
The CZ 455 was a smidgen high with the flyer being bizarre, but windage great.

Would you consider selling the Henry? I would like to buy it or, better yet trade it for my vintage marlin semi 22 with vintage View attachment 220822 weaver (US) scope. I’ve attached pictures for you
I don't own the Henry pump .22LR anymore.
Sold that last spring or early summer.

Update: I just noticed that the thread you responded to was old.
I sold that Henry lever action March of 2017.

I happened on 2-3 youtube vids about diopter adjustment & parallax this am.
I have tried to do these steps in the past.
I can't wait to check if my last 2 CZ rifles (512 & 455) have any little movement left in the reticle when I move my head behind the scope.
I don't even remember since I don't go much to MCFG b/c of expressway situation & my time is restricted more now.

    Focusing for Dummies:
    - First, adjust the ring, or diopter, at the rear end of the housing of the scope by your eye, by spinning it right or left.
    - Look through scope while aimed at the sky or white object (less than 3 seconds).
    - If reticle not in focus, look away resting the eyes.
    - Now turn the back ring at the rear of the scope to adjust diopter about a quarter of a turn either way.
    - Again, look through optic to see if reticle is flat & focused (less than 3 seconds).
    - If not, repeat process until entire reticle is sharp.
    - Pay attention to the outer edges b/c it is the last to get into focus.
    - Lock it in after getting it focused perfectly for your eyes.
    - It should not need to be done again unless your eyesight changes.
    - This can be done even before the optic is mounted.
    - THEN, go to the parallax adjustment on the side (if there is one) to get the field of vision in focus.

On some of my scopes, I always would have some movement of the reticle as I moved my head around & was always puzzled by that.
Of course, that opened up the margin of error for accuracy unless I looked through scope at exactly the same place every time.
Impossible for me & could explain some of my flyers that would irritate me so much.

Yep that's why most of my scopes that I use for precision benchrest shooting have parallax adjustable objective. With the parallax set correctly for a specific distance you can move your eye all around and the reticle does not move.
