I love the looks of the TRP Operators but the one thing I just don't understand is why Springfield put target sites on this gun. This is clearly a "combat" weapon and should have night sights. Or at least the option.

Has anyone put different sights on thier TRP Operator? I know 10-8 is working on some:
    10-8 Performance: Springfield TRP Operator

The 10-8 sights were just released for sale and several people have them installed already on 1911forums. I think SA used the target sights to appeal to all potential buyers. They are night sights, and adjustable target sights. So they are good for all around use. Just my opinion. The rear sight is kind of sharp for carrying though.

I actually have two of the same model I pictured, both came equipped with adj NS.

They are both dead nuts accurate, 1.25" 5 shot groups at 25 average.

I have owned A lot of 1911's and still do, have shot/owned nearly all the Kimber models including grand raptors and gold medal match and NONE will shoot with the TRP! S&W not a single model comes close either. Para? Not a high end 1911 either, middle of the road much like Kimber or a lower end Springer.

Accuracy and reliability hands down to the TRP. You want better then it better be a true custom built like a Wilson,Baer,Night hawk,Brown etc etc. Or you are kidding yourself! IMHO

The springer is around $200 more than the S&W, but its worth it! :twocents:

TRPs are sweet pieces, but too rich for my blood. That SW1911TA was well over my budget for a 1911, but it was worth every dollar.

I do admit, the Smith was very well priced, especially with what was on it. The Colt was almost as much, and not nearly as nice. I understand name costing some, but not that much. I don't mind the little extra, as long as the name is not all I am paying for, and with the Springfield, I know they earned the name for a reason as well, and still putting out great quality. Hmmmm, so many great choices, like going to Baskin Robbins and only trying to get one flavor.

For me anyway, right now, looking like the Springfield TRP, Smith&Wesson, then the Para.

Awesome, thats what I am looking for, as it would be replacing the Kimber as a carry piece. Glad to hear its better then the "extreme" high ends. While those would be nice, there is no way im buying a car for my hip, I dont mind some extra, but those other brands are just way too much for not enough gain on the scale

True, I have a few that cost more, one thats 3x+ the TRP$, Shoots maybe 1/4" better groups! What 1911 costs 5K+? Wilson Classic Supergrade bought it for my 25 anniversary gift to me! Hey Momma got a new vehicle! Guess I got a "hip car" then! LOL

I really like the new para too. I think it's called the black ops. Too sweet. And para ordnance really makes a good quality gun. I have had two and liked both. They were picky on ammo, but great guns otherwise. And great customer service.

As far as buying a name goes, I will not buy a colt 1911 period. They may claim to be the best and the original 1911, but in todays reality, you would pay close to twice as much for 1/2 the options just because it says "colt" on it. No thanks. I have seen just as many colt's malfunction as any other name out there. In the single action 6 shooter world they may be the cream of the crop, but not when It comes to 1911's. All manufactures make good ones and bad ones.

A buddy of mine loves anything that says Colt on it. It's just how he was raised. Lol. He cannot help it. In a dealers prospective colts are great, because the have those hardcore followers. And they will pay the premium for the name. But me, I'm a shooter and want the most bang and reliabulity for my buck, and so far Springfield has done it for me.

Oh yes, I do know of the fan boys. And in a way, I kinda get it, but you should be as loyal as the company is to the customer as well. Respect and Loyalty work both ways.
I do have to say though, its nice that Colt if FINALLY starting to get itself back into the market again, although they are way behind the power curve, especially in their 2 good areas, the 1911s and the ARs,

I know the rails on 1911s serve a purpose for some... but it kinda ruins the look for me. So do the front serrations.
Good thing there are so many choices.

I have a Springer TRP and a Wilson CQB. I'd be lying if i said the springer shot as well, but it shoots very well, and is very well built. I can tell you you won't be going wrong with the springer. If you want something nicer look at the Professional if you can find one, or go with a Wilson, Baer, Nighthawk, Brown. If you want to go fancier the wait is ridiculous, but what you get is freaking amazing. check these out and a northern neighbor to our state..Michiguns Ltd. - Home

Huh, I did not know they were adjustable night sights. So are they the same sights that are on the Range Officer but with Trijicon 3-dot? This may change the way I look at the TRP Operator.

Today, was at Blythe's drooling over some new 1911's. Im looking for one with a rail and night sights. Night sights are not mandatory, as they can always be added later. I already have 2 Kimber Custom TLE/RL IIs, so not so much really on another Kimber. They did have a pretty nice Smith & Wesson with some nice extras, a base Colt for almost the same price (needed night sights), and a Para for a couple hundred less and needing night sights. I would even like a Springfield Armory, but they did not have one in stock. There was a Sig there as well, but did not like the flat trigger at all when I had shot it before. Personally, I was thinking more the Para, however was wanting to see some other opinions, either on these or on any others that might have not been mentioned. And I realize that there are 100s of 1911s, but I do need it to have a rail. Thanks all.

Watch it there buddy, I know who's Sig 1911 scorpion your talking about. The flat trigger is a little weird at first, but to tell you the truth, I like it alot. Plus that thing is a shooter, I think I like it more than my Springfield RO. You could always change the trigger.

Well, I just didnt want a trigger change out right away, but I did like everything else on the Sig.

It's all good, just giving you a hard time, little payback for recommending the mosquito. Get what "YOU" want, not what I would get. But you already know this.

P.S. I hope everything is going better for you.

My Mosquito still running great, and I have some ammo if you need some for the next meet and shoot. Im still going to be there, and that ammo was not functioning for more then a couple pistols that day.
I am thinking that the Springfield TRP is still the top contender.
I am doing a bit better, thanks for asking, getting there anyway.
