I have an old Walther P38 that I would like to place a value on. Can anyone recommend a local shop that can appraise an old handgun for me? Thanks in advance

I would be wary of a shop. Unless they know what they're talking about regarding that particular item and the in's and outs of pricing it, you may not get an accurate idea. Look at gunbroker. You can search for completed auctions and compare your gun to the guns already sold.

Mil-Surp is a tough category in terms of getting the skinny on 70+ yr. old pistols that may be valuable.
Why not stick with actual, name-brand P-38 collectors? If you ask nice, and politely, they might offer plenty of info.
