    NGD!!

Bought another Taylor. Wanted a 400 series but couldn't justify it right now. Got some medical bills coming up that'll I need to pay from a lithotripsy for some kidney stones I had last month. So the 214ce-K deluxe it was. Gold tuners and strap hooks, Full gloss body, Diamond inlays, hard shell case, ES2 electronics, Sitka spruce top and figured flamed Koa back and sides with cream binding. Pics don't do it justice. I'm in love. Great substitute for guns right now

    Very nice!!

I picked up a Boss Katana MkII 50w amp a few weeks back and I'm really liking it. That doesn't say much considering my "skill" level but I'm enjoying it.

So I picked this Studio model up in a trade a few months back. I wasn't excited about getting a Studio but I figured that as far as Studio's go it was a pretty nice looking one and I would at least play it some as opposed to the guitar I traded off. It was structurally sound with no major finish issues but the electronics were junk. My Faded has Faber hardware and I really like it so I pulled everything off of it but the tuners. Once everything I'd ordered came in I set out to "rebuild" it with all new wiring and pots from StewMac and a set of new take-off Burstbucker Pros I picked up off CL cheap. When I'd finished I was blown away with how well it plays and the resonance it had. This is the lightest LP I've held and I have a bad shoulder so maybe that's a contributing factor but I swear it feels, plays and sounds better than my other two, more expensive models though the 05 Standard isn't far behind. I do almost all of my playing sitting down so I don't know.

Today I installed Faber tuners on it and, maybe it's my imagination but I swear it sounds more resonant now than it did with the old tuners. Is that possible? I was already reaching for this guy 9/10 times I play, at this point I'm considering selling off my Trad Pro V and searching for more lightweight models.

My self control got the best of me. I broke down and bought that 700 series Taylor that I've always been jonesing for. Instead of a standard 714ce, I spent the extra $200 and got the new 717e Builder's Edition with wild honeyburst top. This thing is incredibly loud with just the lightest attack. Makes sense considering it's a slope shoulder dread. Sustain is unreal; chords and notes just ring and ring and ring forever. Hate to even put thing down but my fingertips are getting sore from playing it so much

I just spent the last 1/2 adjusting neck bow on 3 guitars. I can't believe how much they have moved since the last time I adjusted them (last winter). I noticed that they were a bit more difficult to play in certain situations and that bar chords weren't as crisp as they used to be. I figured that was just my aging hands. But nope, the necks had more bow in them than they should. So, I bought a straight edge slotted for guitar frets and adjusted them.

It made a big difference! Particularly on bar chords.

That’s a beautiful guitar! I hadn’t heard of the Builders Edition series until the latest edition of Wood & Steel came in the mail.

New one showed up today. I bought it out of Canada through eBay. 2014 Anniversary Studio in Vermilion Burst. I promptly got rid of the cream/pink PU trim rings, pick guard and poker chip and put some black rings on (that is a pain in the....). Replaced the tail piece, bridge and tuners with Faber parts, strung her up and she plays great. I've decided the lighter Studio models are my favorite, with my shoulder it allows me to play a bit longer before I have to put it down.

Phylo, you know your next step is going to be becoming a luthier. You're already changing out all the gear, so why not make one "yours" from the ground up? :)

Just went back through this thread. And I still have not played. :(

I wish I had the patience to be a luthier, I definitely have the desire but I get in a hurry and caveman hand stuff too often. I'd end up tearing more stuff up than I fixed lol...

I'm tired of politics. Here's a current family photo of the electric guitars in the collection. I traded out two of my LP Studio models for a 99 SG Special Limited Edition and the black 18 SG Standard. I've been in a sling for almost three weeks and it's killing me. I'm starting to be able to piddle around a bit in the middle of the fretboard but it's not enough to satisfy my craving to play. I was really starting to enjoy playing some Tool stuff in drop D tuning before I had surgery, can't wait to get back to it.

    Early 80’s D25K . Little over 900 made.
Interesting figured spruce top, koa back and sides, mahogany neck, rosewood fret board and bridge.

Alvarez acoustic my kids got me for Christmas and my new Indio Classic beginner electric. I have nerve damage in my left had so can inly play straight chord or the Blues Bottle seen on my whammy bar. My f-i-l bought me a Korg tuner, the Blues Bottle and a set of various picks. My b-i-l donated an older Fender reverb amp so I can plunk around while watching YouTube on how to get going.

I bought my guitar 7-8 years ago, took lessons for about 6 months, and put it away. For some reason I have a very hard time pressing the strings against the frets. My right hand is very strong, but my left is weak. My fingers are also very short. I need to pick it up and try again. I love to sing, and it would be great to accompany myself.
