I just got this off the RTKABA web site. The Cook County, IL Comissioners are proposing gun control legislation that if passed will close down all gun shops plus ban and confiscate most guns owned by citizens of that county. They have set up a telephone poll to guage voter support for the legislation, but voting is not restricted to county residents. You can call 1-312-603-6400 and press 1 at the prompt, then 1 at the next prompt and 2 to vote against the legislation. I know politics is a crooked as a snakes back in Illinois, but let's try to help our fellow gun owners if we can. Most cell phones have free long distance and it just takes seconds to vote. We can take the old Chicago line to "Vote early and vote often" and maybe shove it in the appropriate orifice in Cook County, IL.

They barely count most of the votes in an election, what makes you think that they will even count the votes.:D

In the end they will make the numbers say what they want.

Didn't the NRA file a suit against Chicago once the DC ban decision was struck down? WTF are those politicians thinking?

Long story short, the Heller decision on DC's gun ban is being used as a precedent to challenge Chicago's nonsense. However, that case is still working its way through the system. The article Scutter linked to is about the latest stage in this "up the ladder to the Supreme Court" process.

It is interesting that the Chicago Commissars are actively flaunting the Heller decision. Unlike some Chi-area towns that relaxed their gun restrictions knowing they'd never stand up to the standard set by Heller, Chicago is making noises like they are going to actually make their already-draconian gun restrictions even more extreme.

Part of the reason for the difference between Chicago and the surrounding towns on this is that most of them know they don't have the money to fight a case all the way to the Supreme Court. They are willing to sit this one out and let Chicago fight it. You can bet if Chicago wins, those towns will re-instate their bans pronto.

Daley had a press conference the day the Heller decision came out and basically flipped the SCOTUS the bird. He is obviously looking for a fight. Obviously if he comes up against the same panel that decided Heller, he's going to get spanked. The only thing I can figure is either a) he is counting on his personally-appointed president to restack the Supreme Court before the case gets there, or b) he thinks he is above the law. Heck, could be both of the above, knowing him.
