Bombardier also made the first ski doo... Which failed. That's the company that I was talking about, the toy company , which I believe was Hasboro, sold the rights to Bombardier. The patent was established in 69 or 68... Let me check.

Yeah I wasn't gonna be an ass an post that but... Yeah.

Also Seadoo is a subsidiary of what was Bombardier, now BRP, a Canadian company that has been building PWCs since 1969. And they were never from as far as I can tell, or have ever heard from being in the industry, owned by Hasbro.

    No offense Andy.

Lol I really wasn't trying to be an ass, although looking back I'd does seem that way.

It is not uncommon for multiple people to have the same ideas in different parts of the world at relatively similar times.

According to everything I can find a man named Clayton Jacobsen II presented his original design and current patent to Barbardier in 1967.

No mention of Hasbro in any history I can dig up.

I couldn't find anything on Hasboro either. That one may just be a case of Chinese telephone. I believe the original design was to be towed by a boat. I may be mistaken.

But if you google water ski cycle you can see the patent. And maybe see differences.

I'm not trying to dicredit you or your grandfather. It just doesn't seem to pan out from what I can find.

No biggie, I knew there's be questions. I'm not sure if the issue happened after the patent or before.

I don't have all the details, but everything I found is its to late to do anything.

I know we had the original up until the mid 80 s before it finally rotted out. My grandpa built it out of plywood because nobody would give him fiberglass and he couldn't afford fiberglass.

    That is pretty cool! :yesway:

If you google "sit down water ski" you get some pretty cool results. It looks like they have come a long way.
