. They are also considering potential exemptions to expanded background check requirements, including transactions involving relatives or people with licenses to carry concealed weapons

Which means (for most of us that use the classifieds) we're already doing it right :rockwoot:.. Show your DL and LTCH and you're good to go :yesway:

According to Justice Department estimates, the federal and state governments ran 108 million background checks of firearms sales between 1994 when the requirement became law and 2009. Of those, 1.9 million — almost 2 percent — were denied, usually because would-be purchasers had criminal records.

I've heard this stat before...Does this number also include those erroneously denied and later cleared to purchase? For one lucid moment LaPierre actually did a good job addressing this (last Sunday in his debacle appearance on Fox News Sunday) by pointing out these guys probably committed a crime when they illegally tried to purchase a gun--were they prosecuted? If not, then why not? And what makes anybody in their right mind think UBC's will be more successful?

Problem is, it's a step. They get "universal background checks" (which criminals will NOT follow) and they'll soon "realize" (read: this is already the plan) that it's unenforceable without registration.

Next step, full gun registration (maybe starting with "assault rifle" registration).

These people think we don't see that and they'll take it in steps.

DO NOT concede on this point. It's just another step in the wrong direction.
