In Japan price ranges for a Shinken is from 1,200,000JPY (Roughly 10,000 US Dollars) to 5,000,000JPY (Roughly 42,000 US Dollars).

Given its highly illegal nature and the fact that Japan is an island country, I have no idea where the owner of that site is getting his crack :n00b: from, but he needs to lay off the pipe when he is pricing his blades..! While that is a correct price range for a museum-quality blade made by a high-ranked smith or a National Living Treasure, a good Iaido/test-cutting blade can be had for a low low price of around $2500~5000! :spend:

I bought my blade here: http://www.toukenhataya.jp/
