    While in the 1940s many states allowed adolescent women to get married at ages 12 or 14 with parental consent, by the mid-1970s most states required that young women be at least 16 if they were to be married.
    Still happens in the repressed areas of America.
    There are still several states that allow girls to get married at 12-14 or younger actually. There are something like 7 states that have no minimum age with judicial approval. And a few that the minimum age is 14 if the girl is pregnant or given birth.
