I always thought it was one of the great moments of history that Japan started a war with us, got their rears kicked, nuked twice, and ended up becoming a very strong ally of ours. Now that's called winning a war.

Considering Japan occupied China for at least eight years and killed millions of Chinese, seems like it's not just PC or hurt feelings.

Since this is the same flag, even if it is not the same country today.

Japan's new government is really starting to flex their muscles. Honestly, I kind of like it. I would love to see all of these countries where the US military is currently deployed start to take a more active role in their defense and we can bring our guys home.

Given the capabilities of Japan's military, for a long while, they are more than capable of taking care of themselves. We're not in Japan to protect them, we're there because it strategically important. Japan is certainly one of the top militaries in the world.
