what is the minimum and maximum range? and how do you plan to adjust for longer range shots. i have it narrowed down to a handful of options. these should be the last set

50-100 yards give or take. I'm pretty new to shooting with an optic so i haven't really thought out the whole adjusting the longer range shots lol

basically on my hunting style rifles i always hold for range. its faster, but not quite as accurate but animals dont hold still as long as steel targets. on target rifles i dial because i have plenty of time.

for 50-100yds you wont need to dial. a 1060fps round zeroed at 50 yards only drops 7.25moa (7 1/4 inches) at 100. so you will probably be fine holding.

long story short this is the best scope in the 300 dollar price range for your use

    Vortex Optics - Viper 3-9x40 Dead-Hold BDC

you can get away with spending less for your use, but this scope will leave you room to grow. it has a bdc reticle and the second dot down will line up close @ 75 yards and the third will be near dead on at 100 if you zero at 50.

with this scope it has a resetable zero turret so you can dial at some point if you decide to.

this scope is 299 dollars and instock ready to ship.

nice thing about it is your close enough to come out for a range day and see your options. every scope looks great inside, but outside at longer ranges is some time a diffrent story

Thanks for all the information. I'll take one. You say you are south of Richmond? I live in Richmond so could I pick it up this week? Could you mount it for me?
