Indy Shops with 1911 Selection

I am in the market for a full-sized 1911, and will be spending several days in Indy next week.

Can anyone recommend a shop in the area that has stocks a good selection of 1911s?

I think the selection at Elmore's is about the best I've seen around the Indpls area. The last time I was there he had a few new Wilson's and a good supply of other brands (and several used ones) as well.

Elmores in Greenwood will have the largest selection to compare different models and makers.
Russ stocks Kimbers, Colts, Springfield, Sig's, S&W, Wilson and Nighthawk Custom.

Just don't let the smoke and all bs bother you there!!!

+1 again for Elmore's...although he doesn't stock many new Springfield 1911s (the occasional GI). He does stock a lot of Kimber as well as Colts, Nighthawk, Ed Brown, currently one smith 1911 (performance center), a couple of used Wilsons, and a random assortment of trades.

The only place that might have something outside of what Elmore's has is Bob at Plainfield with his decent selection of Springfield 1911s from time to time (as well as good selection of Colts). It depends on the price. for 1K and up, Elmore's for sure...for 650-1K plainfield.

Bradis stocks Kimber, Springfield, Colt and Taurus, as well as some of the lower end models like Rock Island, Auto Ordnance and Firestorm.

Gander Mountain in Castleton had a bunch of them last time I was there both new and used.

Deals can be had there, but they are kind of rare. You have to know the street value of the gun before going there to insure you aren't getting ripped off.
