    Odd question:
Can you legally sale a rifle from Indiana Resident x Indiana Resident (proper person based on feedback), but in another state?

    Why do I ask?
Member interested, I’m traveling for work, will be within a few hours of them, where normally it’s 6+ hours. But…I’ll be in Michigan.

I would guess you might be violating some MI law given their requirements for handgun registration etc., but I'm not licensed to practice law in Michigan nor am I particularly familiar with their firearms laws. Probably be better if you completed the sale in Indiana.

So do they live in IN? If so, could you meet them in IN on your way to or from wherever you're traveling to in MI? Might make things simpler.

Do the laws refer to residency or location of the sale?

What are the chances you'll get caught?

How eager are you to argue your case (even if you're right) to the law?

Since the transaction occurs in mi, at the very least, you would need to abide by mi laws concerning the purchasing of firearms. That's just my uneducated opinion.

That is an interesting one. And the question is "is this legal", not "can I get away with it". Given the potential consequences, it's always good to follow firearm laws, even though we likely disagree with them philosophically.

    So the 2 questions are:
    1. Is it legal under Federal Law?
    2. Is it legal under Michigan Law?
