Don't ask for my gun. Don't shout at me. Don't assault me and for God's sake don't shoot me.
Stay out of Broad Ripple then.
Gunowners, please don't handle your holstered weapon in public unless you are required to do so by life threatening circumstance.
Ummm, it is the police who are handling weapons in public, pointing guns at bicyclists, joggers and moms in strollers. You are warning the wrong people.
As for the feckless news conference I think we should remember that these statements are made for the Friends of Downtown and the Chamber of Commerce. The police are helpless to prevent the thuggery on display as it is not their doing. It comes from a culture that the police are not in a position to disrupt (nor should the police be expected to be able to do anything about this).
If the Chamber of Commerce wants more officers walking a beat, O.K., no harm in that. In fact it would be good to get them out of their cars and doing more old fashion policing (peace officer vs. enforcer), you know actually walking a beat.
I am curious what an "illegal gun" is, though
Chamber of Commerce talk. They don't know either, but it sounded good when the speech writer drafted it.
I'll not stop going downtown Indy, as I have to for the gig. I do enjoy going there and will not make any change to my social plans because of the actions of a few street thugs in a club.
