Remember this debacle? Well I sent my parts off to a different shop and they just came back! The only downer is it seems some parts got dropped and got a few dings but I'm just glad to have that ordeal over with. This is my approximate replica of an early M45 MEUSOC 1911 so some aspects of this build might upset the purists. However, this is something I threw together using limited hand tools in a studio apartment so I'm very proud of how this turned out. Thanks for looking!

    Parts:
    • Springfield Mil-Spec 1911 .45 ACP
    • Dehorned
    • Barrel throated, finish reamed
    • 4.5lb trigger pull
    • Matte black oxide finish
    • Matte black Ionbond barrel
    • Novak front sight, .215” height serrated ramp

    • KC’s Custom mainspring housing, 20LPI serrated w/ lanyard loop
    • EGW oversized firing pin stop
    • EGW angle bore bushing

Glad I'm not the only one with too much time on my hands! I started with a current-production Colt Government Model .45 ACP. I bought period-correct Colt M1911A1 parts (firing pin, extractor, firing pin stop plate, hammer, thumb safety, mainspring housing, slide stop, and milled trigger) and had all the external parts Parkerized (except for the barrel which I had blued). I also managed to find some decent wide-ring grips. Other than bigger sights, a lowered ejection port, and (or course) roll marks, I figure I've damn near got a new M1911A1!

My Springfield started as a MC Operator, but I did not care for the pachmyers so I had the frame checkered at 25 LPI with the usual internals supplied by cylinder and slide and STI.

Very nice pistol and I am glad you were able to get the gunsmithing issues sorted out! That original "blueing" job was aweful.

@armalitesheepdog I went to Amerigun USA in Michigan. They quoted me 2-3 weeks but a delay turned that into 3 months. Every few weeks, I called for updates and whether they had contact with their refinishing guy but I never got any. Toward the end, I got some vague references to how their refinishing guy had been out due to a medical issue. I sent an email stating that if he wasn't doing the work, I wanted my parts back. Alternatively, if they hadn't had any contact with him, I would have to start worrying about the gun being stolen/missing. I got a call the next day saying it'd be ready to be sent back to me in a week.

That looks very nice and I am so glad things "worked out" in regards to end product. I re-read your original post and threw up in my mouth. :puke: (Okay...so technically, that emojie was out of my mouth, but shown with great effect as to my state of being while reading!) That was a hard read! Again, glad things finally "worked out" in this project.
