I'm not usually one to trot out the "me first" argument to justify anything related to government authority/laws, but I do see the underpinnings of "**** everybody else, I got mine" in your post. Liberty works when people take care of each other almost as well as they take care of themselves. For all the hate about the collective good around here, people can't seem to understand that no man is an island and there is a point where the community has to be fed and nurtured just as much as the individual. (The issue becomes an issue when the feds or local gov try to mandate/control how it's done.)Wish in one hand, crap in the other,.. Tell me which one fills up first.
My roof got done when I needed and I have no regrets...
If anyone need to know where to hire anyone, PM me.
Wrong. If we got rid of minimum wage laws and Americans knew they didn't have a legal claim to more than the job was worth, we wouldn't have as big a problem with illegal immigration. If we could get local guys to do half the job the Mexicans do we wouldn't have a problem with illegal immigration. They wouldn't have any job positions to fill!
There are plenty of good contractors and technicians out there who are great at their jobs, but there are equally as many who just lower the bar.
Your (non-specific) 10 square job probably wasn't going to net the profit the "American" company wanted/needed to make. Professional courtesy dictates a response even if it is, "Hey, sorry, I can't afford to take that job." But it's still economic freedom.
There is an undercurrent of entitlement in posts that demand a particular level of customer service from a company. And it makes me
Which makes the OP all the more idiotic, doesn't it?Guys, not all are illegal. Many are here legally on work visas, and they work hard to send money back home before their time is up. Don't hate the players, hate the game, and until we get our borders shut, this is what's gonna happen a lot.
This winter when you get the inevitable ice damn back up and your new spectacular roof starts leaking , you gonna call them back to honor their warranty ?
Here's a clue for folks when dealing with American contractors , if you have three or four turn your job down , there's something wrong about you or the job itself and they don't want to get involved with it .
It could be that your talking to bums , your not wanting to pay enough or that they see something about the job that needs more work than you want to pay for , so they'd rather not get involved .
I know other contractors here can vouch for that if they'd care to chime in , some jobs you just have to turn down .
There's another option: they just don't want the job because of the opportunity costs. Take the small job with the small profit margin or the large job with the larger profit margin.
Disagree all you want , but it still doesn't mean I'm wrong .
Doesn't make you right either.
