And after all the paint and powder coating...

The plates are 8" and waterjet cut out of a 2'x4' piece of 3/8 ar500 that I purchased. There was still some steel left so I had some other targets cut and then welded up a stand to hang them from.

Before anyone asks, here is the total bill

    ar500 plate- $250
    Waterjet- $100
    3" angle for tree- $25
    hardware- $25

All of the steel that I used for the base of the tree and hanging frame was scrap laying around at work so there was no cost there.

Unfortunately my home club (Edwardsburg Conservation Club) doesn't allow any steel so I will have to wait until next weekend to go shoot it. I will be be looking into a membership at Nappanee now since I know that they do allow steel.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, this was a great project and for much less that it would cost to buy a tree of this size.

Targets look great, nice work. Make sure to take some spare chain and bolts with you when you take the hanging targets to the range. Bullet spatter and or the occasional errant shot will eventually get you (ask me how I know)....

Looks nice. I wish you would have looked us up, looks like we could have saved you some $$$ on the AR500. Drop us a line next time! :yesway:

Did you have to use special wire or rod to weld the ar500?
    Nice design.

    Nope. Nothing special needed.

I did a little research on welding ar500 and the big thing was letting it cool down to quickly and consequently cracking so I just wrapped the welds to slow it down a bit, everything turned out OK.
