Interesting article with a important lesson.

How the Hong Kong Protestors’ Tactical Brilliance Backed Beijing into a Corner

One of the reasons for the effectiveness of the protest movement is the decision to remain leaderless.
    ...
With strong leaders present, the authorities can arrest them, fatally weakening a movement. Given the deterioration of the rule of law in Hong Kong, the authorities could conceivably jail all of the movement’s linchpins with considerable ease. But with a leaderless movement, the authorities have no such power. So far, the Hong Kong Police Force has arrested hundreds of protesters while the movement has not lost any momentum because the contribution of no single individual is vital.

Decision making and control is harder in distributed systems, but that is precisely what makes them more resistant to being broken.

Perhaps Xi sees his China Dream being forestalled by the capitalist world not doing 'business' with them if outrage over HK becomes widespread. Being communists all their future has in store is starvation and genocide without being able to leach funding out of our free market economies. His dream is slavery for the planet and he can't get there if we don't pay for it. If his dream becomes reality then all we have left to look forward to is starvation and genocide.

This would probably be why his biochem folks are developing racially specific weapons.

Sounds like arrests are intensifying, in numbers, randomness, and enthusiasm.

Oh, and police fired a warning shot to disperse the crowds. That should be popular on INGO. ;)

There's also an updated variation of Tiananmen Tank Guy - there's a pic of a protester facing down a revolver.

    That takes some intenstinal fortitude.

[Was it from a shotgun and up into the air? That should be popular with the Biden campaign]

    That's a win... for now.

Will be interesting to see how much further the protesters will want to push their new veto power.

The protesters aren't satisfied with it from what I gathered in that article. They see it as a step in the right direction, but it was only 1 of their 5 main "demands" and they sound like they're prepared to continue the protests until the other 4 are addressed.

One of the other 4 demands was amnesty for the protestors. No reason to stop protesting if you can expect state-sanctioned violent reprisals as soon as you stop.

No matter what they do the codified law that the commies will stick to ends their independence in the near future. Time to end our support of the commies for taking over the whole planet...end trade with the ChiComs now. All trade.

Then bow to your communist overlords for the price of more screen time, it will make Xi's ChiCom dream a reality. I'd prefer to go back to dial up.

I'll give you a hint. Remember that bit about America being the shining city on the hill? Well this is what that concept means in practice.

Those HK protesters know well what that flag and this nation means; what the ideology is and the actual experience of loss of Liberty. My guess is more of them can tell you what the Constitution says than many of our elected officials. They are experiencing first hand WHY the Second Amendment was demanded by the States (read The People) in order to garner ratification of the Constitution.

Look how many places in the Constitution, including Amendments, the phrase "The Right of the People" appears, then go back and read the preamble to the Bill of Rights. The People were quite aware of what Governments were capable of, because they had experienced tyranny first hand. They understood that collections of men will do things under the name of an organization, that they would never do under their own morals. Those first citizens were in no mood to have a repeat, especially with Canada so close (read British colony with troops).
    The Bill of Rights

    Preamble

THE Conventions of a number of the States having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best insure the beneficent ends of its institution...

So, what have you done to call your Congresscritter to account? Have you reminded them of their oath or affirmation required of them by the Constitution of the United States of America, Article VI? "to support this Constitution"

In Hong Kong there are two different "protests" going on.
There are pro-freedom protests and then there are well trained, well equipped, well organized and oh so very well funded and violent black clad operatives. Those are two separate groups with two separate goals, two separate deployments and two separate provocations for the police. One set of protests started with proposed and unpopular government action on extradition as the result of a vicious murder (boy friend killing girl friend). The second set (the violent black clad well financed and equipped protests which frequently follow on the peaceful protests) began with the breakdown in international trade disagreements. Hmm, let's see...

Seeing the two, questions will come to mind, mostly starting with "who" and with "why".

The ChiComs have quietly upped the ChiCom army folks in HK to double/triple of normal numbers. Even so, this is taking much longer than I expected. Maybe the ChiComs are waiting for news fatigue to take place so they can move in when most everyone will just yawn.
