Holiday cheer brought to you by Congress

Congressman Mike Pence is backing a plan that would give taxpayers a two month holiday from federal taxes. The proposal sponsored by Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX) would use the $350 billion that remains from the bailout. Compared to pouring that money back into the black hole of the financial sector, this is genius. The only way we’ve pulled out of recessions in the past is when American taxpayers get more money in their pockets and spend it. This would be a great first step toward recovery.
Congressman Mike Pence (R-Columbus) is putting his support behind a plan that would create a tax holiday in January and February.
Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert’s plan would put $350 billion of the $700 billion bailout still available to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson toward a tax holiday from both personal income tax and FICA tax for Americans.
“By enacting the Gohmert tax holiday, or other forms of immediate tax relief, Congress could release the inherent strength of the American economy by giving working families, small businesses and family farms more of their own resources to confront these challenging times,” Pence said.
He admits it may not be the best plan out there, but it’s better than “another handout from Washington DC.”
Pence spent time in Columbus Wednesday touring the Love Chapel Food Bank, meeting with soldiers at Camp Atterbury, ringing a bell for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign, and touring Columbus Regional Hospital for the first time since it’s reopening. - WCSI

like the idea... It'll never happen, though. :-(

And if it DOES happen, then the tax rates the other 10 months of the year will be higher in proportion so that Uncle Fed doesn't lose revenue. *sigh*
