Picking up a USC with the UMP parts today. Anybody done the coversion themselves? I've heard it's not bad. The trigger group I guess is the trickiest part. There are a lot of videos covering the conversion, but I wanted to here some of the INGO experts. Thanks

Besides the trigger pack its an easy conversion. 30 mins with a dremel and a file to add the folding stock, enlarge the mag well, etc. And then 4 hours trying to get all the trigger pack parts to fit back in, cursing the terrible diagram I found of how its all supposed to fit together, jamming a spring under my fingernail, cursing, drinking till I saw twice as many parts, passing out, waking up with a trigger jammed into my cheek. Though at that part I was able to get it all back together with no problem. (That time line doesn't include the 6+ month wait for a Tax stamp, obey all NFA rules etc)

Also, be careful of where/how you cut the reciever, its surprisngly easy to make an illegal machine gun.

    DO NOT CUT THIS PART!

Repeat: DO NOT CUT THAT PART!

I've got to put the trigger group together still and I'm not starting the NFA paperwork until after the first of the year. I want to let my liver heal from the holidays before I start jamming springs under my fingernails.

I found a little free time and got it done today. It took about an hour. Found some good diagrams that helped.

Looks good man! When you decided to go NFA the HDPS barrels are the way to go. About a tenth of the price of a real UMP barrel, and every bit as good. I choose to go with a YHM can, so had to get it threaded, but from what I hear the Gemtec UMP can fits right on no problem.

Definitely going with the HDPS barrel. They offer it threaded 16x1M LH, which is how the Kriss is threaded. That way I can double up on the guns per can. I think I'm going to go with the YHM Wraith. I'll probably go with the QD just for the versatility so I can shoot the 9mm's also, until the funds allow a 9mm can.

Going to Beech Grove Firearms on Wednesday to test out the UMP and see if I put it together right. Ive got my fingers crossed!:)

The weather prevented a Wednesday test fire. Got out this morning to BGF.

Pulled the trigger, hammer fell, but no bang! Back to the bench! The firing pin spring was in the bag with the full auto parts. Second attempt went better, hearing protection was needed. All went well on the second trip, a blast to shoot.

Yeah... the HK bug got me bad. All started with a MP5... from there to the UMP, the HK416... now the G36c... Its days like this I wake up and wish I had a cheaper hobby

We just wish THIS hobby was cheaper!!!! An MP5/HK94 is what I was originally shopping for, I just couldn't bare to write the check. I settled for the UMP and a Coharie, and still saved money over the HK94!

    Let's see the MP5 while I wait for G36 porn.:D

I can't count how many times I've been tempted to do this with my USC. Can anyone tell me how much I'm looking at to actually do it?

Minus the stamp, I did the entire conversion for about 400$ But that was also over a year ago before the current crazyness...
