Well. DWS was asked again on NBC this morning about the difference between a Democrat and a Socialist and again, she didn't have an answer.

Honestly, she played it smart. She has a base that she must unite, full of statists of all varieties. She doesn't want to alienate any of them.

Its not that she doesn't have an answer, its that she is not taking the media's bait. She is not falling into a trap that would divide the Democrat base.

And, looking at the question objectively, Democrats (and the USA) are much closer to fascist than socialist.

Socialism involves public ownership of industry. (i.e. Venezuela's government-owned oil.)

Fascism involves private ownership of industry, with onerous government control. (i.e. American banking, health care, energy, etc.)

The difference in theory is that real socialists don't prostitute themselves and their ideology for big money. Democrats do that second nature, just like republicans. The dc way.

I didn't see anywhere that she couldn't answer the question. All I saw was that she would not answer the question, deflecting instead to looking at the minuscule differences between the dems and reps. The only reason the question was asked was because of Sanders. While I think there should be questions asked about his "socialism" and running for the dem nomination, I'm not sure that the question, as posed both times, is especially relevant.

She doesnt have to answer, because the left flat out doesnt care. Most young liberals ACTUALLY THINK SOCIALISM IS GOOD. I cant tell you how many times i've heard the phrase about "every other country is better than the u.s. because of their socialist govt". They honestly believe every single lie their leaders tell them without question because they honestly HATE you. They hate you more than isis because they are told you are a racist, bigot, rich elitist(everything they actually are) and they believe it. They are so emotionally invested that nothing with sway them. Gov't has become their religion and they will go along with anything their leaders say and do to grow gov't to "get back at your for being racist, a bigot, a homophobe, etc." The real truth is that the democrat party is way beyond socialism. They are true communists. They are killing babies, they are selling human organs, they are trying to steal your weapons, they are racking up so much debt so they must raise your taxes and steal more money. They offer everything for "free" so they can get greedy liberals votes. They are pure gov't bullies and are doing everything to take every right away so that they have control. That is beyond socialism. Its to the point of communism. They want full control and have no problem if their enemies(conservatives or american citizens) die, just like that girl who died from an illegal. They remain silent, yet lie about hands up dont shoot. This is sick. Its evil, and its winning.

It's not just a rant.
I personally know two people who call themselves Democrats, and both of them have commented totally without guile or humore in 2008 that they didn't understand why America shouldn't just 'go ahead and try socialism.'
Those are just two that I have discussed the matter with, as I'm almost dead certain that at least one-four of my maternal aunts/uncles also believe that; I just haven't broached the subject with them.
It once was justifiably a dirty word.
Now, it's openly advocated.
