How about a trip to Nevada with Uncle Kirk to Front Sight for a training class on how to properly use what he has? That would be something he would never forget and hopefully learn valuable lessons on proper use of his firearm.
All of them have had the offer to go to the gun school class of their choice. #1, #2 and #3 all declined. I have never been so crestfallen over them. I so wanted to have them in class with me.

#4 has yet to tell me.

I found out from shopping with my wife a few weeks ago, what I thought she would like isn't what she picked out. May be best to let him pick it out, it can still be a surprise just don't tell him where you are taking him and when you get there tell him to pick something out.

Still chewing it over. Thanks to all who chimed in. I appreciate it.

I means, it's important decision, a young man's second handgun, lol.

Yea, a real 1st world problem, that. :)

I mentioned a nice 22 pistol earlier, but upon further reflection, I'd go with one of these: (the AR pistol, not the G***k look-a-like)

Common magazines with his G***k, and with a 8" barrel, more suited to reach out a little farther. The radial-delayed blowback action makes it a real pussycat to shoot:

In the VAST warehouse of things Kirk does not understand, pistol caliber ARs are near the top of the list.

Technicians moving ARs in 9MM into Kirk's warehouse:

Me: Think I got this narrowed down and I have 3 months to shop.

INGO: Here are 6 more excellent suggestions.

If you went with an AR pistol, I hope you got a chromed BCG. :stickpoke:
If you went with the Steyr, I hope you did some quality control test firing on it. Uncle's duty to make sure it functions.
