In our efforts to get a gunsmithing forum, I figured id post my latest project. Noting too fancy but still kinda neat. A guy I work with is really big into shotgun shooting matches, and wanted a barrel extension for his 36" Hastings barrel. He had and old remington barrel that he didn't use so he cut it off in front of the lug and asked what I could with it. I took one of his choke tubes from the Hastings and copied the threads to that back of the Rem barrel. It was an 18" piece and it added 16" of barrel length once it was installed. I wanted to ream and tap it for choke tubes but I can't justify the cost of the tooling quite yet. It's a factory full choke barrel though so it's not too bad. He said before the extension he was getting about 25 bb's per board, with the wad falling about 5' from the board. Now he's consistently getting 35+ bb's per board and bouncing the wad off the board.
Heres how it turned out.
