Gun Safe - Where the best place to buy

I would like to buy a small / med gun case which is fireproof. Where is a good place to look for one? What are good brands and which ones should I stay away from?

I bought mine from Dick's. They have a couple good ones. I'll see what else I can come up with.

I guess as I look online at models I am thinking 12-24 guns so more of a medium size since i am seeing 31 and 45 gun cases. I would like to have room for some rilfes and have a few shelves in it as well. I have see some where it it broke down with 8-12 rifles in half and shelves in the other half.

I would check out Dick's then. They are reasonably priced, and are decent safes.

I picked up a Stack-On Total Defesne Select. It is a 45 gun unit. That would be 45 pump shotguns, or single shot. If it has a bolt or charging handle that takes up about a 1/2 spot on its own. I would almost figure a capacity as 2/3 of what they say. If you have a Rural King nearby check out the Stack-On Total Defesne line.

I have their 36 gun safe. I would recommend it as well.

Wherever you go, look into scratch and dent models that are usually worth it. I can live with scratches for a nice safe that is much less.

Anyone get the cheapo $100 "Sentinel" from Walmart? It's 8-gun and nothing more than kid-proofing as I understand it.

Johnson safes are good safes, but man are they pricey.

Cabela's safes are made by Liberty.................if they are damaged by burglary, fire, or flood they fix them for free.
