I missed this story when it happened, BUt from what this article says I fail to see why he was convicted. And maybe Kirk will get a case of .45 out of this but i thought family and friends were not credible witnesses in a self defense shooting?

Stuck his gun in the guy's mouth, backed him up several feet, and THEN shot him? That's not quite how self-defense works. That's how "f*** you I'm gonna teach you a lesson" works.

Yep the impartial witnesses testimony is what drove the nail on that coffin. But as we know fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to the dark side. I buy he was afraid at first. But I think anger took over, especially since a stranger had time to try to talk him down. Fear generally leads to a quick reaction not a slow reaction and this reaction seemed awfully slow.

It's shootings like this that really add to anti-gunners arsenals. The old good guy gets liquored up, gets in an argument and shoots a guy.

The lesson for this situation is that the wife should have simply dialed the police and written down the guy's license plate. She initiated a physical confrontation, putting her husband whom she knew was armed into a bad position.

Her husband should have tried to de-escalate the situation while he called the police.

The drunk was an a-hole, clearly, but this situation was badly mishandled.

What a sad spectacle all around.

People seem to be hating each other more than ever, and for no real reason.

Drunk or not, armed or not, there's no reason an adult should let anything get that far. Not even close to that happening.

I don't know if I feel bad for these types or ashamed.
