Well, the last time I used it was at dinner with co-workers tonight when I couldn't remember the name of the Kurt Vonnegut novel where technology has advanced to the point that few humans have meaningful employment. I Googled "Kurt Vonnegut books" and Google instantly showed me a list of titles and covers. I scrolled through them until I saw the one I was looking for. Player Piano, if anyone is interested.
I think I rely on Google too much. The main reason is a Google search box is on my home screen on my phone. It's super convenient to just type it in right there and hit the search button.
I'm glad I got so good finding information before Google; if I'd started with it and lost it, I'd be truly adrift. It's a general reference, it helps me with spelling (I used to be better at that), names (was never any good at that), it's my phone book, store, (clothing optional, at least for the girls) photo album, cookbook, translator, news source... I have some specific reference sites and blogs open all the time, but Google is my home page.
When I worked on the Helpdesk / Desktop, I wished more people used Google. People would call with the easiest problems that they could have fixed themselves in under a minute by googling the problem. There were a few I sent this link to:
