Years ago I was able to test out a friend's Remington 572 Fieldmaster smooth bore 22.
It definitely shot a better pattern with the crimped shotshells (Federal?) vs the CCI.
Spent an hour of so reducing the wood bee population off a neighbor's wood deck. If only those crimped 22 shotshells were reasonably priced!

Nice little utility guns. The problem is the difficulty in finding shot shells.
You can contact CCI and order them from the factory.
They will ship straight to your door.
I've done it a couple of times.

It's not called CCI though, it's something like
    Cascade Cartridge Inc.

I do have a Rem single shot smooth bore and it is a hoot to use around the house. I'm thinking of making a .22 pistol into a smoothie also. What a great tool to sit on the pation and take care of the chippers running around.
    Have a great day.

I was thinking about the same thing. something to take on a hike for snakes without lugging a rifle. Ive got shotshells for my glock 19, but Im concerned about how much scatter the rifling would affect the rounds.

Would that make it a SBS?
No, but it would still be NFA. It would be classified as an AOW any other weapon.

I have a Marlin bolt action smooth bore garden gun in .22Mag. Shoot CCI ammo. Much, much better than .22LR Shotshells.
