You might want to do some internet research on this before, uh, "investing"

Glad you threw the flag so I didn't have to, Jim. :yesway:

I don't care for Piazza's entire "infomercial" approach, the ongoing "resort" scheme he's running, nor his ties to Scientology. But apart from all that, I've got a couple acquaintances who have trained there and have reported that the quality of the training itself just wasn't all that good.

Front Sight tops my list of "NFE" (Not F*cking EVER) schools/trainers. The list is short, but distinguished. :):

Wow, Okay. I'd never heard of the guy, or the range. He had some fair references, GOA, JFPO, and someone from NRA-ILA, so I looked. I didn't care much for the "infomercial" style of his ad either, but these days, whatever works I guess.

So, besides the carnival barker come-on, what don't you guys like about this guy?

I don't have that kind of money for something like that anyway, plus the travel to where-ever Gun Sight is. I'm just now looking into some formal situational training with a firearm. Still have to be pretty circumspect with which classes to take and pay for.

I don't believe everything I read on the internet, but here are some other sites/opinions you may wish to review:

I'm just now looking into some formal situational training with a firearm.

    From elsewhere in this forum:

The Boone County Sheriff Department will again offer a 16 hour "Introduction to the Defensive Pistol" course to qualified applicants on April 18-19, 2009, and September 26-27, 2009. It will be held at the Boone County Sheriff Firearms Range in Lebanon, IN.

This course is designed for the novice to the experienced male or female firearms owner. The two day course instructs the student in Mindset, Gunhandling, and Marksmanship. It is instructed by Boone County Sheriff Ken Campbell and staff. Campbell is the Boone County Sheriff, Department Senior Rangemaster, a guest Firearms Instructor at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, has Instructor Certification from Yavapai Firearms Academy, Ltd. (Yavapai Firearms Academy) and is an Adjunct Instructor and Rangemaster for Gunsite Academy, Inc. in Paulden, AZ.
( Gunsite- NRA CCW firearms training pistol carbine rifle)

Requirements include either a valid Indiana Firearms Permit or Criminal History Report verifying the student as a "Proper Person," eye and hearing protection, a suitable pistol, approximately 400 rounds of ammunition, and tuition of $175. (As there is no fiscal impact on the Department for the course, all costs relating to the course must come from the student tuition's.)

or, if you've had prior training and are looking for something a bit more advanced:
