    Before I started carrying a gun, I carried a collapsible baton and I had training for that as well.

    I have a nice pair of nunchaku left over from TKD days. I think they would be more effective than a baton, but to each his own.

    Maybe if you know how to use them well and have some experience actually hitting solid things with them. I've seen enough people years ago who didn't understand physics very well who were great at swinging them around in the air, but not so much with actually hitting things the size of a person.

    It's just not common practice to revive two year old threads.

    I've done it a bunch myself. Sometimes you use the search function and find a thread that is about what you were searching for and respond without realizing how old that thread is. It does seem that this is a no-win situation. If you revive an old thread, someone will give you grief over it but if you start a new thread on the subject, someone else will tell you to use the damn search engine because there is already a thread about that subject.
