The Sheriff's association has come out against HR1525, the FAIR act, or the Fith Amendment Integrity Act of 2023, which reigns in civil asset forfeiture without eliminating it. And the letter is utterly ridonkulous.
So if you are one of those that believes that the Sheriff always has our backs as citizens, call your and ask them their views on HR1525. You might want to watch the video if you arent familiar with it first. Some of the examples the letter gives are laughable. Like telling us to ignore the "outlier" stories of individuals that have had their life savings confiscated inland, even with bank receipts showing a legit withdrawal.
I've never seen Steve so visibly ticked off. And I'm right with him.
They may be happy to defend our 2A, but maybe not so much our 5A, since they benefit from the 5A abuses. (And I would also personally argue it violates the 4A as well)
