    Hopefully not Genera
Jury selection started yesterday. Disclosure News is giving some great coverage.
    Here is an example:
Prospective juror: "I'm not gonna convict someone for carrying a gun."
Judge Dunn: "That's okay sir, I'm not a legislator making the law, I'm just here to tell you what the law IS."
Prospective Juror: "I don't care what you're telling me, we have a Constitutional right to carry a gun in this country, and I'm not gonna convict someone for doing it."
Maybe there is hope for Illinois yet.

Only hope for IL is if they can separate from Chicago. It skews the votes way too much (just like LA and San Fran. do for CA, and New York City does for NY).

I've been in Canada for 10 days now, and based on what I've heard/read in the news (elections are going on up here), it's the same thing. People in the western provinces despise the Firearms Registry, both for what it's done to tourism as well as for the inconveniences that they have to go through. Unfortunately, all the population is in uber-liberal Toronto, Montreal, etc., so there's not much they can do. The good news (at least as good as it can be), is that it's up to the provinces to enforce the laws, and it doesn't seem like a very high priority to Manitoba, Alberta, etc.

Back in the States tomorrow, though. I am going to miss being able to buy beer on Sundays...

Those are the jurors that need to keep their mouths shut and then nullify the case. Getting yourself disqualified when you could help free someone is ignorant.

Acquitted of all the charges handed down by the grand jury. Oddly enough the jury did convict him of reckless conduct. I did not know that a jury could levy a charge that had not been filed by the states attorney. Of course the states attorney argued for the 3.5 million dollar bond on a misdemeanor charge. The judge set bail at 25k with 10 percent to apply and the guy has to return in august for a hearing. This whole trial has been a travesty. Read about it at disclosurenews.com. See how bad things can really go when law enforcement is this incompetent.

Thanks for reading. I visit Illinois just about every weekend. You have no idea how screwed up these people are when it comes to gun ownership. It has been ingrained in them over the last few decades that owning and shooting a firearm outside the normal hunting pieces is like really owning and enjoying really kinky Swedish porn. You keep it on the downlow as certain "experts" will tell you that you are breaking the law. And lets not forget the local sheriffs that just kinda make up the laws as they go along. Confiscating firearms without cause thus forcing the owners to spend money on court costs and attorney fees to get their firearm back before the sheriff sells it.

Well, I grew up in Illinois, my parents and grandparents grew up in Illinois and I still visit often as my immediate family and some long term friends still live there.
Have lived in Indiana the past thirty plus years.
If there is any difference between folks from the two states it is something too subtle for me to detect. Push Chicago into the great lakes and both states would be the same. In my opinion.

The Palestinians, Syrians, Iranians, and now (without Mubarak) the Egyptians call for pushing Israel into the sea, and are supported by our leftists, so why should turnabout not be fair play justifying pushing the leftists into the sea?

Prosecutors aren't interested in justice. They're interested in convictions. Convictions == reelection.

Im not a leftist but maybe its time Israel fight their own battles or pay us for our help. I have had enough using borrowed $$ to fund other countries.

    Israel would just nuke 'em.

Actually though, I believe that its in this country's best interest to support Israel. Having an ally in that region of world is beneficial to cut down those petty tyrants when they get out of line.

All things being equal I would agree, but Jimmy Carter obligated us to this one in perpetuity. After the neighbors ganged up on Israel the last time, and Israel captured a significant amount of real estate including the Sinai Peninsula, it then had oil for the first time and in the few years between the war and the Camp David Accords, had grown accustomed to the revenue. Offsetting the lost revenue for cooperation in conjunction with threatening to withdraw US support for non-cooperation is how Jimmy coerced Israel into giving up that particular parcel of land. As far as I am concerned, we are on the hook for this one unless we take the Sinai away from Egypt and give it back to Israel.
