In 2006 Champ Car driver Cristiano da Matta hit a deer in an open wheel car at Elkhart Lake, WI. The crash damn near killed him. I checked for video but nothing appears to be out on the interwebz. If I'm correct, a near-collision occurred recently at one of the Indycar races as well.
