    Anyone use a CZ550 magnum action to build on? Looking for a long action to build for .338 lapua and other long cartridges. I know they are a mauser based action with a single set trigger. What does the bolt face look like??? Mauser style or a remington ring?

    Thanks
    Frank

    Sure, CZ for one.

    CZ-USA -> CZ 550 MAGNUM H.E.T

    Bolt face is Mauser style.

    With the Rigby bolt face, will look considerably larger than this:

    Thanks but not much info there. I know about the HET but don't really want to spend 3K to build a rifle. Just interested in the actions right now. I managed to pick one up new in 416 and it will make a very good action for the purpose. Now I just need to know for sure what the barrel thread diameter and pitch are. Looks like 27.5mm x 2......definitely not the same as the 98 mauser the action is derived from.....

    Doesn't take long to knock off a barrel to measure it.

    Brownells advertised the Magnum actions as 28-2, the tenon reference from Trinidad says 28-2.

    28mm = 1.102"
    2mm = .07874"/12.7 threads per inch

    Pitch Conversions threads per inch TPI pitch in inches and pitch in mm for taps and dies

    Take off barrels and stocks sell quickly on AccurateReloading.com at reasonable prices.

    Thanks for the info. It pretty much confirms what I found. Only problem with knocking off the barrel to take measurements is that when buying an action there is no barrel to take off. I had to work it backwards. 1.1" X 12tpi is standard mauser 98 thread but 1.1" is too large for this receiver. I ended up at 1.089 and 2mm per thread so the 28mm is close. My lathe does metric threading so no need to convert.

    Thanks
    Frank
