Hang in there...mine took 2 months and 3 days. I sent my stuff in on Nov. 12th, and it showed up on Jan. 15th. I think I sent mine in at the start of the big rush. One of the guys on this thread has a relative that works at ISP, and said they were getting 1600 apps a DAY, so they're no doubt up to their eyeballs in applications.

I refuse to give that word up to those who have hijacked it and made a mockery of it with their actions. I never refer to them as "liberals" I call them what they are: socialists. More accurately, most of the sheeple are actually what Lenin called "useful idiots." They don't even know they're being used to advance socialism, they just have their little pet cause that's supported by the socialists, so they vote that way and ignore the rest. Certainly it can't be because Cuba and the Soviet union have been so excellent on the environment, and free speech, and gay rights, and all their other little issues. These are the people who wear and "Che" shirt and when informed that Che murdered over a thousand dissidents with his own hand and ordered the murder of thousands more, they just look at you - in the words of Don Henley - "uncomprehendingly, like cows at a passing train."

    Don't EVEN get me started.
+1 on the "sheeple". I won't HJ this thread because I too am waiting on LTCH and curious to see how long its taking (applied Jan 2). But, your post made me think of the pseudo-fictional account of the antichrist in Left Behind. One charismatic leader gains the support of most of the world. I'm not trying to compare BHO to the AC but, it is fascinating to watch the support of the public and media for this charismatic but unknown man. People are desperate for leadership, and given no other choices, they will follow just about anyone demonstrating it.

Is the process the same for the lifetime as it is for the 4 year, except for the incresed cost of course? I need to go down and do it before my current one expires.

I'm afraid I have made a mistake. I sent mine in on Dec 31 thinking it would only take about 6 weeks. Well, I just moved out of my mom's house. I figured I could ride it out with the same legal address until it comes and then change the address. I was in a hurry to get it. Anyway, I'm getting married in May and I have to get a passport soon, which means I had to update my drivers license. So now the wrong address is on my application. I'm going to get rejected aren't I?

I know they are disconnected. I was under the impression that the background check happens at the local level and that they pretty much just process the app at the ISP office. Hopefully they will just print the info written on the form. I just have to wonder if they'll look up my ID though. I mean it makes sense. It's no different than a routine traffic stop.

I applied for my LTCH on 12/02/08 and just got it today 02/18/09. I think it took longer the first time than it did for the renewals except for this time, this time taking the longest.:dunno:
