I was browsing Gunbroker and noticed a $750 Ruger P-85, I couldn't guess what would make a P-85 worth $750 so I checked the auction out, turns out the gun was given to an employee of Sturm Ruger Co. for 20 years of service.

Ok, now the confusing part, why does having someone's name engraved on a gun make it worth double it's true value? This is just one of those things that made me go, HUH. I guess if the name was Bill Ruger, it might raise the value, a bunch.

    I don't know why I posted this, just bored I guess.:dunno:

P-85 for 20 years of service? Maybe he was not a real good employee? These are fine guns but seems a little on the cheap side to me

Since it has a name engraved on it, I think it would only be of value to the person who's name is on the pistol. I would only want a presentation piece as a collectible if the person was famous, as a US president or Mr. Ruger himself or someone of his stature, like Mr Colt or Mr Winchester.

It just hit me, buried in my garage treasures, I think I still have some old shooting trophies with my name engraved on them, I could put them on GB and retire a couple of years early.

OK, now I'm confused, why would someone build a bar without a roof?
