    Discussion came up on another thread about the status of Colt's Piston Carbine development. I found this info and am posting it here.

    To paraphrase from below, the Colt M5/1020 was an initial move to a piston/op-rod carbine. It has sinced morphed/evolved into the APC (advanced piston carbine) and then also into this thing they are calling the AHC (advanced hybrid carbine) which you'll have to read about to get the picture...seems to have some nifty engineering behind it that is still proprietary to say the least. From what I've read most of this was in response to the military's SCAR program. Most of this is from defensereview and is a year or so old.
