Nice car.

I knew about John Delorean being famous for the performance of the once humble mid sized budget model. I read the articles about him in magazines back in the day.

I could never understand what made him so special. People had been putting bigger engines in smaller cars and modifying them for better speed since the first hillbilly moon shiners. A GMC 302 straight six replacing the anemic 216 engine in a '52 Chevy was pretty common. When the men came back from WWII the Hot Rod Culture exploded without John Delorean.

Years later I read some business articles about the money that Pontiac Motor division, and eventually all of General Motors made from the Muscle car era. NOW I understand, Doing something new does not make you great, Making stacks of millions for Corporate shareholders is what makes your work recognized as great.

Even though I drove a Skylark GS back then, the GTO was a pretty special car.
