    Excerpt:

When police caught up to a fleeing drug suspect early Thursday, they had little problem arresting him. They found him in a private home he had entered, wounded in the chest by a resident with a handgun.

The shooting occurred about a week after an 80-year-old Army veteran used a handgun to shoot and kill an armed burglar who had broken into his home. In both cases, the weapons violated the city's 28-year-old handgun ban, but police so far have declined to press charges

Chicago gun ban: Chicago gun ban ignored by many otherwise-law-abiding citizens - chicagotribune.com

This sort of goes to show what the handgun ban has done. Not only has it failed to disarm the criminals, it has failed to disarm many of the otherwise law-abiding citizens as well.

    This is good news.

But we so often hear tales of woe from Chicago where a homeowner has defended himself and is in hot water for. Im thinking in this case it is the age of the homeowner that has saved him from the unreasonable trashing of his 2A rights and subsequent incarceration. If the home owner had been 50 instead of 80 would he have been arrested for having and using a illegally possessed gun?

Although this is good news the travesty of rights that is Chicago's stance on the 2A continues.

I think what's really telling about this is that it isn't in the culture of the people of Chicago to ban handguns in homes, at least not all of them, to the point where the police will deccline to enforce the law in some circumstances. The law remains on the books, but it makes one hopeful that they may at some point repeal it.

So Little Dick Dailey isn't being as charitable to these poor victims as he would like to make it appear to everyone.

I don't think Daley had anyhting to do with it one way or the other. It seems liek the kind of law he would have spoken out against.

Thanks for the link and the info. I'll keep it in mind if I ever end up living in IL.
